The SNR has links to a number of other societies:

Navy Records Society

Founded in 1893 the Society publishes original material on the history of the Royal Navy. So far it has published 150 volumes, covering the period from the fourteenth century to the Second World War. Among the figures covered are: Nelson, Fisher, Beatty, St Vincent, Jellicoe, Somerville, Cunningham, Keyes, Collingwood, Anson, Hawke, Hood and Vernon. Naval Dockyards Society

The Naval Dockyards Society was founded in 1996 to study the construction and conservation of naval dockyards, their workforces and surrounding communities. It holds an annual conference at the National Maritime Museum. Its world-wide membership includes academics, ex-dockyard personnel or family historians, most of whom are actively researching administration, personnel, sites or technology from the Admiralty archives. South West Maritime History Society

Based in the South West of England, the Society encourages interest in all aspects of maritime history and promotes research, leading where possible to the publication of the results of such studies. See the SWMHS website.

Hakluyt Society

The Hakluyt Society is named after Richard Hakluyt (1552-1616), the famous collector and editor of narratives of voyages and travels. It publishes editions of primary sources on historic voyages and travels of individuals all over the world, and welcomes as members anyone interested in the history of travel and exploration. Established in 1846, the Society has published more than 200 editions in some 350 volumes. See the Hakluyt Society website.

The Society for Nautical Research (South)

The SNR (South) is a separate organisation set up to hold regular talks and discussions on naval history and a variety of related topics. Its objectives are to encourage and disseminate research into all matters of nautical and maritime interest. The SNR (South) meets on the second Saturday of each month from October to May in the Royal Naval Club at 17 Pembroke Road, Old Portsmouth (near the Cathedral). Membership is £12 per annum.
