The Society for Nautical Research

Victory dinner

The highlight of the Society's year is the annual dinner on board HMS Victory in Portsmouth. This is for members and invited guests only, and follows the Annual General Meeting.

Because of the Society's role in saving HMS Victory for the nation and its continuing close involvement with the ship (see the Victory page for details), members and guests are permitted to tour the ship once a year. With the kind permission of the Second Sea Lord, members and guests also have the opportunity to dine on the lower gun deck of Victory.

2009 AGM and Dinner

The Annual General Meeting of the Society for Nautical Research took place on Saturday afternoon, 13 June 2009 in the Princess Royal Gallery of the Royal Naval Museum, Portsmouth. More than 50 members were present. Members and their guests were able to visit HMS VICTORY later in the day and 96 members and guests (the maximum allowed this year) enjoyed an excellent dinner on the lower gun deck. The Society remains grateful to the Second Sea Lord for allowing us to dine on Board HMS VICTORY and to the Commanding Officer and his team for all the hard work that they put in to make the occasion so successful.
