Members of the Society for Nautical Research come from many different walks of life and from all over the world, but all share an enthusiasm for maritime history.
We have members who are academics, doctors, lawyers, merchant seamen, naval officers and yachtsmen; some studying, some working and some retired. Their interests include the Royal Navy and naval history, merchant shipping, shipbuilding, hydrography and exploration, the Napoleonic Wars, World War II, classical antiquity, archaeology, and economic and social history.
Take a look at the range of articles published in recent editions of the Mariner’s Mirror.
