Members of the Society for Nautical Research come from many different walks of life and from all over the world, but all share an enthusiasm for maritime history.

The range of membership includes: academics, seamen, and yachtsmen; some studying, some working and some retired. Their world-wide interests include national navies, mercantile shipping, fishing fleets, and all their auxiliary craft, all maritime history back to antiquity, historic and pre-historic marine archaeology, shipbuilding, hydrography and exploration, river and sea-borne warfare, ocean routes and passages, ports and cargoes, marine economics and the society of seafarers and mariners

Take a look at the range of articles published in recent editions of the Mariner's Mirror, or sameple some of the more recent abstracts
